Aire valley landscape H2

Lighter than Aire (LtA) is a flagship hydrogen valley project in the Bradford–Humber region, bringing together 14 European partners to develop a scalable renewable hydrogen ecosystem. Funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the project runs from 2026 to 2031, demonstrating how hydrogen can support decarbonisation across industry, transport and energy systems.

Coordinated by HydraB, LtA combines expertise from across the hydrogen value chain — including Wrightbus, Toyota, HyGen, Ryze Power, GeoPura, HyKit, Intelligent Energy, Northern Gas Networks, N-Gen, Novuna and ZETI — with supporting partners HyEnergy and ERM.

Located between Bradford, Leeds and the Humber, the project aims to overcome the technological, financial and regulatory barriers that have slowed hydrogen adoption, helping make clean hydrogen a practical and affordable solution for hard-to-decarbonise sectors.

By applying lessons learned from existing hydrogen valleys and encouraging cross-border collaboration, LtA will accelerate the deployment of renewable hydrogen technologies while contributing to a connected European hydrogen network and a more sustainable net-zero future.
